Vanishing Mexicans.

I agree with you on the for the next year, some things are very obvious. However this team might still get to the finals and unlike the recent playoff losses to Philly, even if they lose tonite they were still in this series.

MB can try and tinker with this lineup, or make wholesale changes and aim for the cup in 2016. Next year the only true top four playoff D man we have is PK. Belidau looks like he has the potential to take a second pairing. Maybe Emilien playing on his natural side can make the top four. Other than that we have the same exposure that is killing us against the Rangers this year if we do not fix it for next year.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14162783936999869984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-43362459511890821482014-05-26T16:44:42.049-11:002014-05-26T16:44:42.049-11:00This reminds me somewhat of the run in 2010. That...This reminds me somewhat of the run in 2010. That year they beat formidable Pittsburgh and Washington teams and then succumbed to a worse Phillie team. This year they overcame a pretty good TB team and a strong Boston (spit) team only to look like they'll lose to a Rangers team that isn't as good as Boston. IF we're gonna lose I'd rather it be to NY than Boston so thank heaven for small mercies!

It is almost as if they play really up for the elite teams and then sit back for the middle-tier teams. Frustrating but, as you say, this gives the team a lot of good data about how good they are or are not.

The other thing this kind of brings up is that a few weeks ago many people (including myself) likely would have been happy to sign Vanek for term and dollars. Today, I suspect more of us are thankful for his contributions but wishing him well elsewhere.
