I agree with you ...A short comment on the defense.

I agree with you 100% that we need to manage these old guys for April and I think we are going to see it. I think (or hope) that Martin will give minutes to the young guns on defense when either the game is not on the line or is out of reach of our opponents. If we lead by 4-5 goals, I think JM will use his young D and diminish the old guys' minutes. If that happens, you take away 2-3-4 minutes a game from the old defense, give them to the younger guys, they will develop well in the process without being "thrown" in when April comes and (if) the old guys are too tired.

As for Price, I do not necessarily agree. Yes, he needs his rest but I also think at his age, he can take 75 games. Maybe not for the next 5-6 seasons but he's on a roll right now, do not break that.Hadulfnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-434992835720970232010-12-08T16:42:40.649-11:002010-12-08T16:42:40.649-11:00JT,

After seeing some of Ellis's recent play with Tampa, he may not have survived in Montreal with games like that. Of course, it is hard to judge Auld with only 2 appearances, but he seemed solid in his games.DKerrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02445386772250841397noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-81588440386271368132010-12-08T10:40:55.379-11:002010-12-08T10:40:55.379-11:00@DB: Yeah, rookie rules are silly to us. But with...@DB: Yeah, rookie rules are silly to us. But within the the construct of a team, they make sense in a weird way. These guys are the closest thing to a military unit we have outside the service. They put their health and safety on the line in the course of their work and their well-being depends on having order in the ranks and trust between each other. Everyone who joins needs to prove he's putting the best interests of the unit ahead of his own. Part of that means taking a subservient place to those who've been there longer and "earned their stripes." Hey, at least rookies no longer have to go through the full-body shave like they used to!J.T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00012075493503316318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-10334273634355406282010-12-08T09:05:13.320-11:002010-12-08T09:05:13.320-11:00A few comments on the game:

Once in a while his hands are as good as his mouth.

What are the odds that Pierre Mcguire can do a Canadiens broadcast without opining once that the Habs didn't get enough for Halak? It's going to take a couple of seasons before anyone can really judge the trade.

I wonder if some players react to Subban the same way some fans react to Mcguire. At times you just want to reach for the off button.

After hearing that rookies are suppose to get their supper last, don't have a say in the music played, and have to be the last ones off the plane I'm not sure what is sillier - these rookie rules or "The Code".DBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08774116563390591423noreply@blogger.com
