Gainey went ballistic creating an environment where a new culture would need be borned in a hurry..... its an incredible opportunity to get things right again.... gelling and winning games will be the player's focus and Martin has all the tools required to guide them across such unchartered territory.

Thanks to our overall balance they should win their fare share of games in the first half of the season but on the second half our game when 5-on-5 will picked up in quality reaching a level higher than anything we've managed playing since the lockout.

I like our goalies, our Ds, our depth lines and our PP first wave.... its all good stuff....
the quality of our second line if only fair might be the only aspect that keep us from being a very good team when all is said and done.... I think Plek will be fine but how good can the brothers be ?

Anyway I wont miss last season.... thats for shure.pierrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04722439953017469433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-65629507261972446862009-08-12T06:34:36.326-11:002009-08-12T06:34:36.326-11:00I am not convinced that the wholesale house cleani...I am not convinced that the wholesale house cleaning was warranted or necessary. One or two of Koivu, Kovalev, Higgins and Komisarek would have been nice to keep, for continuity and fan loyalty/satisfaction. Right now the team is like one of those box lots at an estate auction, there are some gems to be sure, but there will also be some useless gewgaws.

I believe that Martin is steady, and staid enough to impart some stabilty to the team. Whether it's stability at the bottom of the heap or stability at a higher level, that remains to be seen.

In 60 years of following the Habs, this year's team has the highest "Hmmmm...!?!?" factor in my estimation. It also has the highest potential to surprise a lot of people.geezerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03685231216524956633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-49577652040403400582009-08-12T05:25:50.665-11:002009-08-12T05:25:50.665-11:00The most encouraging sign I've seen from Marti...The most encouraging sign I've seen from Martin is that he seems to be having fun. On TV he looks relaxed and like he can't wait for the season to start.DBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08774116563390591423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-91129012776306230202009-08-12T02:57:22.455-11:002009-08-12T02:57:22.455-11:00Great article.
As opposed to what we saw last yea...Great article.

As opposed to what we saw last year I think Martin will be a steady hand.

Which is good!

And already we see something different then some of the accusations that were made about Carbo not being a great communicator... Martin has wasted no time reaching out to his players.

I'm certainly gonna be patient. But I am optimistic.

With every move Gainey made I wasn't sure what to think... some of them disappointed me.. flat out.

But overall.. the moves as a collective whole... I think he's done well. The picture really isn't to bad in my opinion.

When Martin was hired I was kind of shocked... just because most moves Gainey makes are seldom predicted. Martin's experience and coaching style is likely just what the doctor ordered.Yveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04401807179000513345noreply@blogger.com
