But in this case, the Habs may already be a dead thing and the CH a memorial to a greater time. Don't get me wrong, I *want* the Habs to be French. I'd love it if that identity could be truly regained. But, in these times, there aren't enough French players left to make a difference, so we've got Therrien et.al carrying what's becoming an increasingly sputtering torch. They are one of 30 NHL teams now; a business. If they can play a French-speaking hero on the ice, I'm all for it. The coach though? Where's the emotional connection to listening to a guy say "We lost again" in French? Canada and Quebec are multi-cultural now, more than ever before. *That* is the political reality of Canada in the 21st Century.J.T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00012075493503316318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-61644584611580622742016-01-18T11:54:36.691-11:002016-01-18T11:54:36.691-11:00To suggest that the coach of the Montreal Canadien...To suggest that the coach of the Montreal Canadiens does not need to be able to speak French is like saying the Prime Minister of Canada does not need to speak French. It's simply a non-starter. To suggest otherwise is to fail to recognize the political reality of Canada in the 21st century.

Hurc44Hurc44https://www.blogger.com/profile/02115553266122392536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-7375507880313049432016-01-18T08:40:07.439-11:002016-01-18T08:40:07.439-11:00Hopefully everyone will realize that the contract ...Hopefully everyone will realize that the contract that MB gave to MT is 4 year BUT really only 3 with the option for a 4th year so if he is sacked they only owe him for 2 more years and not 3 more. MB has been okay when trying to fix mistakes or adjusting to players he and management felt could help the Habs but that stubborn MT would not use. He needs to start being stubborn and drop this coach now and not make a desperation trade that mortages the future he has started to build. He already allowed MT to make one asset in Tinordi useless as trade bait and hopefully he doesn't do the same with any more as Carr and Ghetto are RFA at the end of the year so he needs to get a coach who will utilize his assets properly .dra58https://www.blogger.com/profile/15985187108320390662noreply@blogger.com
