Good example of no player other than Sergei coming to the defence of Andrei after he was levelled. It showed a lack of team character, something we rarely address as fans, but rather we look at individual character as a possible achilles heel in a team's success or failure. There is much less pressure this year and many new characters who have no idea what hockey in Montreal is, how important it is to the tenor of society in Montreal, how the city's entire attitude is dependant on the performance of thier beloved team. Which, in my opinion, makes us better, a more vital threat to prove the myriad pundits wrong, all those who seem to unanymously place us on the outside looking in. I am excited to see the "smurfs" turn the "goliaths" into dust. good artice JTjeffery van den enghhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06264691899468017069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-76141480289673915552009-09-13T07:06:14.236-11:002009-09-13T07:06:14.236-11:00I think that after Gainey's chats with the pla...I think that after Gainey's chats with the players got nowhere, he decided that blowing up the team was the right thing.

This squad should gel quickly, but Gorges also said that it could be a few weeks into the season before it really starts to click.

Martin also talked with several players, notably visiting Price, and that made a key impression on the players.

I also liked how Gill and Gorges also said that a captain is not a priority.

Gorges notes, "I think there has to be a group of guys that are pushing in the same direction and buying into the same system."

It appears that this is a group that will work together.

Now, if we can just get rid of the instigator rule for BGL, eh?

Ya! Whenever Martin is interviewed on TV he looks like the cat that swallowed the canary. The new players seem positive and relaxed. They know there is pressure to win in Montreal, but rather than being overwhelmed by the pressure they have embraced it.

Last year the team (players and coaches) seemed afraid of any adversity, and when it came, they collapsed. To me this inability to handle adversity is the hallmark of the Carbo era. When players went into slumps they slumped for a long time. When the team slumped it became a freefall.DBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08774116563390591423noreply@blogger.com
