With the return of Markov and Gorges he isn't likely to make the top 4 anyway, but should provide more mobility and depth than anyone else that inexpensive. And, I like that fact that Pierre Gauthier was able to broker the deal to finally bring him to North America.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-64523459373015933972011-05-19T00:32:19.888-11:002011-05-19T00:32:19.888-11:00Well written with a certain Wangerskian element of...Well written with a certain Wangerskian element of landscape as inspiration for analogy.

It's good to dream!Bashnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-20990032685655206072011-05-18T21:01:08.974-11:002011-05-18T21:01:08.974-11:00I would be thrilled if Emelin could crack a regula...I would be thrilled if Emelin could crack a regular position on our third D pair from the get go next season... his tough side would be a nice addition to our D squad.

Watching Russia playing the Finns at the World had me rather convinced that he wasn't a 6' 2" 220 player as advertised by the tournament.... I saw more of a 6'+, maybe 207 pound player..... a Dman that was being used as part of the third pair for his National Team which had to play the right side position instead of the left where he normally would play otherwise (video)...... even though my scouting remained inconclusive I cant see him being a top 4 next year thats for shure..... as I said, I'll be really happy if he can make it as a regular on the bottom pair from the get go.

PierreAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-13585818564710242142011-05-18T19:02:11.397-11:002011-05-18T19:02:11.397-11:00Ok, we shouldn't get our hopes up too high, bu...Ok, we shouldn't get our hopes up too high, but it's a stretch comparing Yemelin to Lahti. I know a fair number of prospects and had never heard of Lahti before the Habs signed him. He hadn't done much in his career and still hadn't until this past season when he put up a point per game with Jokerit, at the age of 28. Yemelin, on the other hand, has been a known prospect for some time and has made the Russian National team. Maybe not as a key component, but anyone playing for a major hockey power country's national team has to be taken a bit seriously.

If Yemelin can be a solid 5/6 d-man this year, his mobility and passing will improve the Habs considerably from the Mara and Sopel levels. At a better price point. I'm looking forward to a few hip checks from a player other than Subban.Ralphnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-39107841047487945312011-05-18T11:44:13.904-11:002011-05-18T11:44:13.904-11:00Boone states that the contract is two-way and that...Boone states that the contract is two-way and that Yemelin may start out in Hamilton. So if he doesn't pan out no harm done.

Like everyone else I haven't seen him play but just the thought of a young, big D-man with a meanstreak has me very excited. Haven't seen one of those in a Hab sweater for a long time.

Sounds like you had some fun summers growing up. He is also no longer on their list, but signed with an out - the KHL if someone decides to bury him in Hamiliton. (Guess which team has what reputation:-}

I think that is very progressive thinking. It works out or you can slide back to the KHL and try as a free agent next year. Give us a chance, you get a chance, and we all get to test the waters. Maybe if it doesn't work for us it might for Washington and we get a pick back on a training camp trade.

As fans, as media, or as unabashed media fans as you are, we all love this time of year. They aren't out of the playoffs next year, and that's where we're looking. Markov is healthy, Gorges is wiser, Price is steady, AK comes into his own, MaxPac is the new Neely, and Lapierre is traded a couple more times.

Sometimes I dream of a carosel of uniforms, each in rotation superimposed on Scott Gomez' chubby little frame. There are 29 NHL uniforms. With the Yemelin signing conditions I will fantazize about KHL uniforms as well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
