And was fired a few games before the playoffs because Lamoriello felt he didn't have the team mentally and physically ready for the playoffs.

We can debate Julien's qualities as a coach, but the fact remains that a strong GM can fire a coach anytime if he doesn't like what he sees. I originally thought that Therrien would have to fail consistently for at least a year before Bergevin would take the extreme step of getting rid of his guy, but I don't know. If the Habs continue to play this constipated-looking hockey and threaten to fall out of playoff contention, Bergevin may see fit to pull a Lamoriello sooner rather than later.

Moreover, if Bergevin manages to sign Subban to whatever stratospheric contract he'll command before the season's out, there's no way he's going to want eight or ten million dollars sulking on the bench. A coach can bully promising kids to keep them humble, but he bullies stars at his peril.Jay in PAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18030705140884332663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-76636881565106879152014-01-09T13:30:23.900-11:002014-01-09T13:30:23.900-11:00Great article! I have be...Leigh Anne, you really nailed this one! I have been against the hiring of MT since the day it was announced. My primary reason at the time was his comments and disrespect towards P.K. Subban.

MT is a mediocre coach at best. He has no leadership abilities and I am convinced very few players in the room have respect for him (except Frankie Boo who owes him his position on the team).

Subban is a stud. MT treats him like a turd. I have been a Habs' fan since the mid-50's and it would break my heart to see P.K. leave the organization - but I wouldn't blame him one bit.

The more I see MT on 24CH, the more I question how he got hired in the first place.

You have identified a litany of points marking MT as incompetent.

Well done! But, where is MB in all of this? Why does he allow this fiasco to continue.

I love my Habs, but I have little confidence in the future as long as MT is behind the bench.

The Habs conference standing is in spite of MT, not because of him.

A terrific post, Leigh Anne, as usual. Cannot argue with its accuracy one bit.Ianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11141406139388093224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3435571560723564995.post-84084704621795501612014-01-09T09:40:32.765-11:002014-01-09T09:40:32.765-11:00Great read. With Boucher available, with his track record with the 2009 Bulldogs (including Subban Desharnais, a bit of Pacioretty and White), I think its time to give that francophone McGill alumni a shot.

I like MT but he just looks and feels like a coach on his last legs here in Montreal.

Mike Safoniukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07763548992587692408noreply@blogger.com
