I Want Playoffs!

I want the Habs in the post-season. I don't care if it's only for four games. Four games of playoffs is better than 82 games of not playoffs. It's the best time of the year, and if your team is in, it give you a sense of pride that they made it. In the case of the Habs this season, it would be a sign of character and triumph over adversity. When they're out, it's a black mark on the franchise's record, and it leaves the faithful with nothing but hockey pools and a long, long wait until draft day to look forward to.

Screw the Centennial. Screw the injuries. Screw it all. I just want the playoffs. Four games and out will be disappointing, but not as disappointing as ending the season on Saturday. So, come on you pansies! Get us one point and four games in the real season. We deserve that much.

I want playoffs too, but I don't know if I can face being dismantled by the Bruins, which is probably what it will come down to. Unless Markov miraculously recovers a week early... What I'm really waiting for is next season, when all the centennial bs will be over and we can concentrate on some real hockey.

JF, I cringe at the thought of losing to the Bs as well. But I think the odds are better for playing Washington, if they get in at all. Then again, maybe after all the torture, there's a tiny Centennial miracle in the tank and they could face Boston and beat them. That would be sweet.

I need better drugs.

no big BL or Stewart a/g the bruins tonight??? What be the logic behind that move?

you want playoffs, eh? Well, you got 'em.

I hope we play the Bruins in Round 1 again. Sit Pleks, get Markov a bionic knee or something, keep Weber, send O'Byrne out to pasture (St. Louis could teach him how to play big - seriously). Sign Schneider and his Seder-inspired shoulder for two more years, let Stewart and Laraque play all the odd-numbered games, let Bouillon come back from injury, and we're looking at Round 2.

Price's play looks like a biorhythm chart. When do all three crest simultaneously? Maybe next week?

Finally: if the Bruins are going to dress a guy named "Bitz", then they really need to acquire a "Kibbles".

They're in! I don't think I breathed during the last few minutes of the game. I think it would have been a moral victory to have won against the Bruins tonight, but at least we're in the playoffs. And, frankly, the two teams were quite evenly matched, despite what the statistics say.

I really do hope the Habs get to play Washington in the first round, though, for a number of reasons:

1) I'm not sure I could stand an entire round of the thuggery seen tonight--obviously, the Bruins would want to avoid penalties in the playoffs, so it might not be as extreme, but the Bruins will be the Bruins.

2) While the Habs have a history of generally ousting the Bruins when they meet in the first round, I don't think I could bear to see the Habs lose to the Bruins.

3) Washington: yes, it would suck for the Canadiens to lose to them, but at least there is the prospect of an entertaining round, without the bad blood present in the rivalry with Boston. Then again, it is the playoffs.

Needless to say, I am glad the Habs made the playoffs. Thankfully, by the time any games in which the Habs could be threatened with elimination roll around, I will be done my exams and won't have to worry about a loss literally ruining my year!
