Lest We Forget
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.
- John McCrae

Perfect choice,Leigh Anne.
Montreal Canadiens motto ,
To you from failing hands we throw the torch. Be yours to hold it high.
The motto is from the poem "In Flanders Fields" by John McCrae which was written in 1915, the year the Canadiens won their first Stanley Cup championship. The motto was first written on the wall of the Canadiens dressing room at the Montreal Forum and is written on the wall of the Canadiens dressing room at the Bell Centre.
Unrelated comment on tonight's game.
Emelin in the press box again. I think he'll end up in New York as the Rangers appreciate good young defense men. I hope he gets a chance to play somewhere else and doesn't have to go back to Russia.
THANK YOU!!! I so appreciate this site. This is the information I was looking for.
I love this poem...and think of it daily
